The challenge this week: Satisfaction.

“Enjoy the satisfaction that comes from doing little things well.” — H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

I always get great satisfaction from working outside in the garden. I may just potter about, trimming here or pulling a few weeds there. But I also love constructing things that will improve the look of the yard.

This week, hubby and I build a flower bed next to the path, to bring some colour and, hopefully attract the bees that we haven’t seen around for months. The bed is part of an extension to a mulched area of trees and shrubs, and I still have some work to do on that. But here is a photo of the completed flowerbed, in which we take a lot of satisfaction. It will be even better when the plants grow more.

What little things give you satisfaction?

  1. That will look great when the flowers fill in. I like gardening too, Linda. There’s the satisfaction of the accomplishment AND seeing the flowers grow.

  2. Yep, that’s going to look good! I guess I get satisfaction from gardening, too. Knowing the Camellia I just planted will take five years to really establish itself and display all of its blousy glory gives me the incentive to still be around when it happens, if you know what I mean? And watching the sparrows strip my raspberries clean after I have tended them so laboriously for a year has its own unselfish pleasure. It’s good to play host to birds that are well fed.
